Pushing my music

All of this time I've just found out that my blog was not made public. I guess that would explain why I had no followers. I'm still learning about this blog thing but I do understand that I need to give you some valuable information or you won't be following me.

One thing I see more and more about this hip hop is that you have to understand your goals and your focus. Just last week I was thinking of going to New York to push my music. I desired to get my video on BET or MTV. I soon realized that if I succeeded how would I get my music to all the thousands possibly millions who wanted it. You do want it right. LOL. I saw that I don't need to go for the big fish just yet when it comes to marketing my music, I need to go for local, my area. I figured I need to be exposed here first so I need to get heard in the Houston market first. The people like the sound but I still need to get heard by the masses.

It's so many rappers. They are everywhere. I'm looking for ways to stand out so I finished a documentary about my story called A True hip hop Experience: Da Author Trete Lo Real Real. I wrote a new book that I have not titled yet and I just posted one of my short films on the internet. Love Drove me Crazy. I'm trying my best to be the red egg inside the carton. The purple cow I heard a speaker talk about. I have to stand out some how some way.

Pushing this music is the most exciting thing. Also it's the most tedious at time. I have to focus on building relationships with DJs and making things work. Radio, newspaper, magazines. The media makes it happen but I know the real one that makes it happen is God. For any musician reading this your dream can become a reality just keep using that ever powerful imagination at it will happen.

Standing Out Branding in the Music Business

I'm getting ready to start marketing and promoting the new album The Martyr. I think I have to let as many people as I can in the Houston Market first know about the new album. (since that's where I'm starting. I've been doing so much studying when it comes to the music business. I'm thinking that Google ads would be the cost efficient way to go starting out since the first thing that I need to do is get people used to seeing my face and hearing my music. I'm not sure how many results I'll get at first but I'm thinking it's great for branding myself as an artist.

I'm looking to hire more people for my in house marketing team. It's fun and I think of it all as a game. I purchased an audio book called 100 ways to grow your wealth that said that you should make your work a game or at least think of it that way. I can tell you that since I've been doing it for about a week now, I am noticing that I'm more productive. I do suggest that you do it it you want to be more productive in the music business. You're supposed to have a different energy than you do when you work. Now I don't work, I just play.

I've also been studying branding a lot, did you know that experience with the brand is the fastest way to brand yourself with your customers in the music business. Really any business like test driving a car, eating at a restaurant. Reading your books, things like that. I get it now, I understand. I've even did a personal interview with Sheila P. Coates who gave me a lot of practical tips when it comes to branding. She's an expert that has a great book called Mama said be your own brand. It's a must read and you can hear the interview on the author section of www.undergroundsouthconnection.com Well I guess the best thing you can do is give your audience the best possible experience with your brand.

Please leave your comments and branding tips for the music business. We're all here to help each other.

The New Cd The Martyr: This is our project so let's work together.

I'm really moving right now on this new Cd. I just got the artwork back and I go to UPS to pick up the mastered CD that arrived from disc makers but I wasn't here to get it. I've been studying marketing methods stronger than ever. I've even been writing a marketing plan. People if you have a product but no plan to market it, you're in trouble and you don't even know it. These plans are so important and easy to do. I purchased Marketing advantage deluxe edition and I believe it's one of the most inexpensive yet valuable parts of my company I've added.

I've also been watching the website build slowly but surely. It's still under construction but I've been looking at color schemes and trying to figure out the best way to get people to download songs once I put them on. I mean it's one thing to have a site and it's another thing to have a website that pays you. It's very challenging so help out if you can.

I was watching something from a marketing Guru whom I can't think of his name that said, if you ride down the street you probably ignore a cow but if you saw a purple cow then you would not ignore that. People we have to think of new ways to stand out in the crowd because it's so many people everywhere and we need to be the one that gets noticed. How do we do this in an economy like this. We'll find out together. I'll be posting my ideas and I hope that you will share yours. I found one way through my clothing. Look at Lady Gaga she does a great job of standing out, but maybe not that weird. I'll just stick with off the wall hats that most won't wear and when it becomes a trend I guess I'll be stuck with the challenge of finding something else.
